Apple ditched the 3.5mm jack back in 2016 with the introduction of the iPhone 7, and some of us still haven’t gotten over it.
The 3.5mm audio jack is universal and handy, allowing someone to grab a set of headphones, any headphones costing between $10 and $1,000, and connect it to their phone.
Why did Apple remove the headphone jack?
Back in January 2016, some eight months before the iPhone 7 was actually unveiled, a sound theory explained that Apple wanted to launch all-screen phones in the future, devices that didn’t have a home button. To do so, Apple needed to ditch the 3.5mm headphone jack since it wasted so much space.

The removal of the headphone jack in phones is intended to make wireless headphones more convenient and appealing to the masses than wired ones. Enjoying the “convenience” of wireless earbuds means keeping Bluetooth on more often or all the time and, therefore, enables more tracking of your every move for targeted ads.
